HIV-CCC [Chetana Community Care Centre]

Chetana Community care Centre one of the different projects run by Asansol Burdwan Seva Kendra at Jhinguti, Phagupur in Sarai Tikar Gram Panchayat. This project started in March 2008 deals with the people suffering from HIV/AIDS. It has been funded by Catholic Bishop Conference of India (CBCI). Its main focus is to work as a bridge between Hospital and Home based care. It is a national program and included in Phase III of National Aids Control Organization a government of India initiative. The Community Care Centre at Burdwan promotes access to care & treatment to the people living with HIV/ AIDS within the district and the surroundings. So far 2432 HIV cases cared at this centre outpatient and Inpatient unit care provided 100% ART medication and nutrition. We reached out to more than 30,000 people with the HIV related issues through awareness programs, World Aids Day celebration, Annual gathering etc. Our Children’s Home which is the second home in West Bengal for the safety and rehabilitation of the HIV affected children is taken care of. 15 Children under the relevant criteria provided nutrition, shelter, medication and education. Being rejected from the Govt. run School, the children are admitted in the Open School through IGNOU.


CCC at Burdwan provides comprehensive care and support to PLHIV as per the national guidelines for CCC- operational guidelines for community care centers, NACO, 2007.

  • 1. Short stay of Client minimum 5 days and maximum of 15 days.
  • 2. Inpatient and outpatient department.
  • 3. Doctors are available for six days in a week from 9 to 12 in the morning except Sunday.
  • 4. Nutritional support to the client staying at the CCC.
  • 5. Medicines available at the CCC are provided of Free of cost.
  • 6. Counseling done in all working days by the counselor.
  • 7. Ambulance services are available at the time of emergency.
  • 8. Nurses are stationed for 24 hours.
  • 9. Outreach activities are done by the outreach workers.
  • 10. We have four each beds for female and male client and two for children.
